Launched at the end of 2025, JAPlanet has seen rapid uptake across Europe's C&I segment, with systems already installed in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands and further projects confirmed in other key markets. The 261 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) system has a compact, modular design and scales to 5.2 MWh per site. It sits within an integrated solar-plus-storage offering aimed at businesses and municipalities looking to lift solar self-consumption and tap energy trading revenues.
KEY 2026 – Longi and JA Solar step up European storage push
Alastair Mounsey, Vice President Europe at JA Solar, puts the early response down to a clear shift among C&I customers towards self-consumption, cost control and resilience, with storage now needed to unlock the full value of solar.
Italy’s first commercial and municipal systems go live
In Sicily, JA Solar has partnered with installer Noon Srl on a series of large-scale projects: ten JAPlanet units at an aquaculture facility, eight at a 200-bed hotel and resort in Palermo, and ten at the municipality of Licodia Eubea in Catania. The last of these is a 2 MW PV-coupled battery system used for energy trading and arbitrage at municipal level.
The deployments are among the first examples of JA Solar's "PV + Storage + X" model, pairing generation and storage with sector-specific applications. A locally developed energy management system handles peak load management and operational stability, with around 70% of on-site solar generation consumed directly.
Report: solar-led shift could halve EU power system costs
In Germany, JAPlanet is being rolled out through distribution partner SegenSolar Germany. Early deployments include a mixed agricultural operation in Straelen combining dairy farming, feed production and vegetable cultivation, where the system is cutting electricity costs by lifting self-consumption.
Adapting to market needs in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, JA Solar is working with Wierden-based wholesaler GWS Energysystems B.V. to roll out battery systems across logistics, agriculture, retail, real estate and EV charging hubs. Co-owner Roland Hollegien puts the demand down to grid congestion, rising energy prices and the push for energy independence, with the modular plug-and-play design supporting peak shaving, load shifting and tighter PV integration.
