May Battery Index: residential decline, commercial standstill

Pricing in the residential battery segment declined in May across all three main categories.

- High-voltage premium brands: €271.6/kWh (–1% vs April)

- High-voltage performance brands: €159.4/kWh (–4% vs April)

- Low-voltage brands: €109.3/kWh (–5% vs April)

The most notable movement came in the high-voltage performance category, which had surged 9% in April on stronger pricing activity from Deye and Growatt. May brought a visible correction, with average pricing returning closer to the levels seen in March.

April Battery Index: Steady at home, tighter at scale

Premium high-voltage systems also edged slightly lower, continuing the gradual downward drift from the February 2026 peak of €284.9/kWh. Despite the decline, the structural price gap between premium and value-oriented systems remains wide, with premium brands commanding roughly 2.5 times the cost per kWh of low-voltage systems.

Low-voltage batteries recorded the steepest month-on-month decline, approaching the cycle lows seen in January 2026, as price competition in this segment continues to intensify.

Most popular home battery brands in Europe

Deye takes the leading position in the residential battery ranking for May, climbing from third place in April, driven by strong marketplace momentum across the performance and value-oriented segments that continues to support transaction volumes.

Huawei holds second place, maintaining consistent premium positioning in the residential market. Pylontech ranks third, supported by its well-established modular high-voltage platforms, while Sungrow returns to the Top 5 at fourth place.

Dyness, which led the April ranking, drops to fifth but retains a solid presence in the mid-range segment.

Overall, May saw a notable reshuffle compared with April, with Deye's rise to first place the most significant change in the residential brand ranking.

Commercial segment: stable pricing across a tightening market

Pricing in the commercial and industrial storage segment remained effectively flat in May, while product availability declined for the third consecutive month.

- 20–30 kWh systems: €234.5/kWh (+1% m/m)

- 60–120 kWh systems: €226.4/kWh (0% m/m)

The smaller commercial segment recorded a marginal price increase compared with April, while the larger 60–120 kWh category remained unchanged for the second consecutive month. The number of active commercial offers fell to 78 in the 20–30 kWh range and 25 in the 60–120 kWh range, continuing the contraction trend that began in March 2026.
