Collectively, the 600 industrial firms consume more than 6 TWh of electricity each year – close to ten percent of Italy’s total industrial power demand. The initiative will help manufacturers across the country achieve substantial mid-term reductions in energy costs. ERS enables industrial customers to benefit from renewable electricity and a smaller carbon footprint without the need to invest directly in energy infrastructure or manage complex projects.
KEY 2026 expo line-up highlights finance and energy strategies
MET Energia Italia is overseeing the development, construction and long-term delivery of energy over a 20-year period, with Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), Italy’s state-owned energy services company, as main counterparty. The first projects are already underway: the Ferrera Erbognone solar plant has been operational since autumn 2025, and the Caltignaga solar project is scheduled to go online in early 2026.
