KEY 2026 expo line-up highlights finance and energy strategies

Participants from the global energy community will attend events curated by the Technical Scientific Committee, chaired by Professor Gianni Silvestrini, with support from leading institutions, associations, consortia and research bodies. The programme aims to address recent regulatory developments, technological progress and market innovations to enable more efficient energy use and improved cost management.

How Italy is advancing the solar energy transition

Main themes

Finance for the energy transition: Financing solutions are now central as companies work to manage energy cost volatility. The programme will spotlight PPAs, dedicated funds and innovative funding models, along with conferences on investment tools for renewables and energy efficiency. Topics will cover green bonds, participatory approaches involving citizens and communities, and strategies to accelerate decarbonisation using incentives, cost-benefit analysis and risk financing.

ForumTech: The latest edition of ITALIA SOLARE’s ForumTech returns with a full day focused on technological and regulatory advances in photovoltaics, digitalisation, monitoring, smart energy management and storage integration.

Construction supply chain: For the first time, KEY will present a new report on energy sustainability in construction, developed with FEDERCOSTRUZIONI.

Future energy technologies: The event will spotlight innovation in data centres, AI and IoT for predictive maintenance, plant management and decarbonisation of buildings.

Renewables and storage: Photovoltaics, storage and wind will be prominent, with sessions on agrivoltaics, the offshore wind sector, and grid flexibility. The programme also covers investment in hydroelectric power and approaches to balancing new plant development with community engagement.

Ports as energy hubs: Sessions will examine the evolving role of ports in the offshore energy supply chain, focusing on infrastructure, partnerships and competitiveness.

Energy efficiency and sustainable cities: Key topics include energy upgrades for public housing, support for SMEs, ESCOs, white certificates, M&V, energy accounting, smart public lighting and next-generation meters.

Hydrogen for industry and transport: Hydrogen’s role in decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors will be explored, including Italian Hydrogen Valleys, clean tech manufacturing, e-fuels and international collaboration through the HYPE – Hydrogen Power Expo.

New mobility and electrification: The agenda features updates on EV charging regulations, infrastructure for road networks and fleets, grid integration, battery storage and workforce training for the electric transition.

Africa’s energy self-sufficiency: Events by Res4Africa will highlight the potential for photovoltaics and storage across Africa, and the importance of improved financing for sustainable electricity access.

Renewable Energy Communities: Sessions will showcase best practices, policy progress and community engagement in Italy’s Renewable Energy Communities, including input from Legambiente, Kyoto Club, and ENEA.

Regulation and future scenarios: The programme will address new policies, investment trends, emerging challenges and the launch of the first Green Paper on Energy Transition, with input from leading Italian associations.
