IBC launches citizen participation platform for solar parks

IBC Solar will enable citizens to participate in its solar parks in the future. For this purpose, the company has now launched its own digital platform. Interested citizens can use it to find out about current projects and their conditions, as well as participate directly. The full-service provider of solar energy solutions makes it possible to make a financial investment even with smaller amounts. This ensures that everyone can play an active role in shaping the energy transition.

"The energy transition also belongs in the hands of citizens. We have been of this opinion from the very beginning. Because people want to make a contribution to clean energy production. If that is not possible with your own solar system on the roof, participation in solar parks offers a good alternative," explains Udo Möhrstedt, CEO of IBC Solar AG. "The issue of acceptance is also of great importance, especially with solar parks. With the possibility of participating in a financially interesting solar product, there is an opportunity to increase the acceptance of solar projects among the population."

First project: Schnaid solar park in Frankonia

The first project within the scope of the participation opportunity is the Schnaid solar park, which will be built in the municipality of Hallerndorf, just north of Nuremberg in Germany. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2023. The solar park with an output of 6.5 megawatts will supply around 7,000 megawatt hours of green electricity per year.

In addition to the solar park in Schnaid, there are currently two projects with citizen participation planned in the immediate vicinity of Bad Staffelstein (IBC Solar’s headquarters) and more projects will follow. On the technical side, IBC Solar works with its partner Eueco on its participation platform. (mfo)
