The clamp secures the modules to the stone-filled wire mesh and absorbs both the weight of the substructure and wind uplift forces. Alutecta developed the clamp as part of its Diconal mounting system. As gabion walls – retaining or freestanding walls built from wire mesh cages – show dimensional tolerances, particularly at construction heights of up to around 12 metres, the design uses slotted holes on both axes to also engage with adjacent mesh fields.
Vertical PV and existing solar parks: a case for overbuilding
The final practical construction test was carried out with 3 × 3 modules on a gabion wall at the site of the former state garden show in Bingen. Applications include retaining, noise protection, heavy-load and privacy walls as well as slope stabilisation from a height of three metres upwards. (nhp)
