eRally 2020: From Poland to Portugal by electric supercar

For the third time, the editors of the industry portal WysokieNapieciecie.pl organized a rally in which they want to cross Europe. This time they decided to use one of the fastest cars in the world – a fully electric Porsche Tycan. Over 7,000 km long route of the rally leads from Warsaw through Berlin and Paris to the Cabo da Roca peninsula in Portugal.

The real revolution of energy and transport sector in Europe came. Energy, produced in a sustainable way through renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics, not only provide electricity for households or companies, but also power electric cars. Many energy distributors with vehicle charging stations use green energy for this purpose.

Checking up on charging infrastructure

"During the rally we want to show how technologies used in electric vehicles are evolving. Today, available in the most expensive models, in a few years' time they will be a standard in commonly used models," says Bartłomiej Derski, journalist of the portal.

While traveling through Europe, journalists will check how the infrastructure for electric cars looks like in particular countries. They will also visit places that are important for green energy sector.

"The choice of Portugal as the destination of the rally is not accidental. It is one of the countries that not only have the highest level of sunshine in Europe, but also create favourable conditions for companies investing in renewable energy sources," says Przemyslaw Pieta, CEO and co-founder of R.Power, one of the largest solar developers in Poland and a partner of the rally. The company had recently decided to open its first foreign branch in Portugal to develop photovoltaic projects there. (mfo)
