Highfield Solar secures financing for 132 MW

Highfield Solar has secured project financing to fund the construction and operation of two additional PV projects with a total capacity of 132 MW. Since July 2021, Highfield Solar has secured over €400 million in cumulative debt funding for more than 600 MW of solar projects in Ireland.

Tricel Killarney has announced the installation of Ireland’s largest combined solar PV (776 kW) and heat-pump system. It was installed by Waterford-based company Enerpower.

The projects will be developed by Elgin Energy through its established partnerships with third parties.

Largest solar park in Ireland completed

A 5.6 MW solar park was opened this week at Kinsale Co. Cork. It is the single largest solar farm in the Republic of Ireland.

Beauparc’s, Irish Packaging Recycling (IPR) Facility at Ballymount has gone solar with the installation of a roof top solar panel array. Installed by Waterford company Enerpower, the array will ensure that Beauparc continues to drive forward with their sustainability strategy.

The device has a 12-metre wingspan and is connected to the generator by an ultra-strong tether.

Ireland’s renewable auction sees cost reduction

The first Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS-1) round of Ireland’s first green energy auction provided a stage for the rapid deployment of onshore wind and solar projects.

Solar is not the only renewable technology that is doing well in Ireland – the volume of onshore wind output that will be supported by the RESS is twice that of solar.
