Air and soil temperatures beneath agri-PV systems vary with module height, a recent study has found.
The approvals clear the way for renewable energy developer VSB to roll out two agri‑PV installations in central Italy, designed for both energy production and farming.
A tracking-based Agri-PV system on arable land in western Germany has delivered higher crop yields in its first season compared with a reference plot without solar modules.
The European Solar Energy Association has put forward proposals to speed up the expansion of agrivoltaics across Europe. The recommendations were outlined at the Agrivoltaics World Conference in Freiburg.
Analysts from the Boston Consulting Group and BayWa r.e. have conducted a study examining the additional revenue potential of combining agriculture with photovoltaics. The study also analyses specific cash flows during the transition phase.
Agricultural photovoltaics are gaining ground, but how exactly can farmers benefit from installing solar systems on arable land and grassland?
The Agrivoltaics World Conference examined the yield gains farmers can expect when installing solar systems – a major theme at this year’s event.
Most citizens would strongly prefer agri-PV over conventional solar parks, according to a recent study from the University of Bonn. What‘s more, opposition to ground-mounted solar installations becomes noticeably softer when the land is put to double duty.
The solar energy solutions company introduced a new system for vertical module mounting at the Energy Decentral trade fair. Udo Geisel, Head of Procurement, Production and Logistics, outlines the advantages of their solution.
This year’s Agrivoltaics World Conference will run from 1-3 July 2025 in Freiburg, southern Germany. Alongside the main programme, organiser Conexio-PSE is planning site visits to a range of agri-PV installations. You can also participate remotely online.
Using a small agri-PV system, the researchers want to measure the effect of roofing solar modules over vines in the south of Spain. The experiments involve several modules fitted with numerous monitoring sensors.
Farmers can mount the modules directly onto the existing weather protection. The foils and hail nets remain in place. When they are not needed, the farmer stows them beneath the modules.
The energy provider secured contracts as part of the latest Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan auction. Both agri-PV projects in the Naples region are being developed as tracker systems.
Following approval delays, construction of the tracker system only began in late 2024. The project was nevertheless completed on time and will now be subject to scientific monitoring.
The use of agricultural land for additional electricity generation with photovoltaics is attracting growing interest. Our special edition shows how farmers can enhance land use with solar energy. It is available to download for free.
CEO Talk: More and more farmers want to use their land twice - with additional solar power generation. AgriPV a brand of GridParity AG now has the whole range of solutions in its portfolio. CEO Dr Erich Merkle knows which options farmers can use to harvest double.
Energy Decentral, the trade fair for decentralised green energy supply for farms will be handing out innovation awards for new concepts for the energy transition in agriculture. Applications are open since late May.
Despite the transfer of Energy Decentral and Euro Tier to the internet, the organisers look back on a successful fair. The virtual exhibition stands will remain online until 15 April.
