Unlike conventional solar parks, where cleaning equipment can be mounted on tractors, solar roofs over cultivated fields often require manual cleaning. In agricultural environments, module cleaning is frequently more critical than in standard installations, as these systems are exposed to higher levels of airborne dust and organic deposits. The combination of limited accessibility and increased soiling makes drone-based cleaning an effective option, provided that specialist chemical agents are used. These must be safe for crops and soil, as the land is used for food production.
Specialised for Agri-PV
Chemitek Solar, a Portuguese chemical company, has developed a cleaning agent specifically for drone-based Agri-PV maintenance. The Drone AgroPV cleaning agent expands the AgroPV product range and completes Chemitek’s portfolio of biodegradable solutions for cleaning, water treatment and soiling mitigation, all tailored to Agri-PV installations. “The use of drones for cleaning AgroPV systems represents a decisive step forward for this segment,” says César Martins. “Our goal is to deliver a chemical solution specifically adapted to this technology, combining efficiency, safety and sustainability.”

Biodegradable and certified
The Drone AgroPV Cleaning Agent offers high efficiency in removing organic contaminants and agricultural residues. It is fully compatible with drone spraying systems, biodegradable and safe for crops. It can be used during seed germination and plant growth, and does not harm the modules. The safety of the Drone AgroPV Cleaning Agent for PV modules and agricultural environments has been independently certified.
Chemitek Solar will officially launch the Drone AgroPV Cleaning Agent at Intersolar Europe 2026, presenting it to the international market as part of its Agri-PV product portfolio, with distribution managed via Chemitek’s global partner network. (su)
