Green Planet Energy donates solar modules and battery storage for Ukraine

While international donors are discussing the reconstruction of Ukraine, Green Planet Energy is putting its money where its mouth is. The green energy provider has donated solar modules and battery storage for Ukraine. They are now on their way to the country affected by the Russian war of aggression. "The war in Ukraine has affected large parts of the energy infrastructure there. Therefore, as an ecological energy cooperative, we would like to provide direct and sustainable support precisely in this regard," says Sönke Tangermann, board member of Green Planet Energy, explaining the commitment.

Flexible models delivered

In total, the company is supplying components for 27 solar plants, each with two modules. The systems, which Green Planet Enegry purchased from the Leipzig-based provider Priwatt, achieve an output of 770 watts each. In addition, Green Planet Energy is also supplying 26 battery storage units with a capacity of one kilowatt hour each.

In cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), a target region was determined for this donation, whose power supply is no longer secure due to the war. The solar units and batteries are now being delivered there. The exact location is not being disclosed for security reasons. "With the solar power plants now on the way, we have opted for flexible models that can be adapted to different environments and circumstances," explains Sara Koß, head of the project at Green Planet Energy.

Ensuring independent power supply

The modules can either be attached to a balcony or railing or used on flat surfaces. Under optimal generation conditions, the storage unit is fully charged after barely one and a half hours and can, among other things, power the refrigerator overnight.

Thanks to their special low-light performance, the modules are also able to generate electricity on cloudy days, thus ensuring a long-term and independent power supply.

100,000 euros donated so far

The current delivery is already Green Planet Energy's second major donation to Ukraine. Already in February, the green energy provider delivered heatable living, kitchen and sanitary containers to the country. Together with the current shipment, Green Planet Energy has provided a total of around 100,000 euros in funds to help the people in Ukraine affected by the war. (su/mfo)
