The plant in the north-west of the country has been online since August 2025 and is generating revenue. The latest deal will refinance construction debt as well as support plans to add a 68 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at Oradea, part of its portfolio hybridisation strategy.
Tomáš Bílek of Fenecon: “CEE markets require flexibility and local adaptation”
The BESS component is currently under construction and is expected to be connected in 2026. This represents an investment of approximately €21 million, with estimated annual revenues of €8.4 million and EBITDA of €6.7 million over the first five full operating years.
Econergy Group currently has 11 solar projects in Romania, of which four are in commercial operation, three are ready to connect and four are under construction. The total capacity of all projects is 674 MW, of which the company’s share is 494 MW.
Joshua Murphy: “Germany offers battery revenues, but CEE is building the pipeline”
At Oradea, the BESS is set to be the first in Econergy’s Romanian portfolio to enter operation this year, as the company moves to equip all its solar projects in the country with storage. Systems are already under construction at five sites and in pre-construction at a further six. (mg)
