SMA increases turnover by 85 per cent in the first nine months

However, sales in the commercial and industrial segment also increased by 74.4 per cent to around 334 million euros. Turnover for solar parks rose to a total of around 518 million euros, an increase of more than 70 per cent. The Group's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased from 50.2 to 231.2 million euros. This corresponds to a margin of 17.3 per cent.

Turnover between 1.8 and 1.9 billion euros

The reasons for the positive development were improved production capacity utilisation. According to SMA, this made it possible to reduce the associated fixed costs due to the increased volume. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) totalled €201.6 million, significantly higher than the previous year's figure of €21.8 million.

At the end of September 2023, the order backlog was at a very high level of just over two billion euros. More than three quarters of the €1,647 million is attributable to the product business. The SMA Managing Board once again confirms the upwardly adjusted turnover and earnings forecast for the 2023 fiscal year: This predicts a turnover of between €1.8 billion and €1.9 billion. (nhp/mfo)
