Intersolar – JA Solar to preview utility BESS and next-gen TOPCon

JA Solar is using Intersolar Europe this month to preview JAGalaxy, a new utility-scale battery energy storage system offering over 5 MWh capacity and 93 percent round-trip efficiency, alongside a first European showing for JAPlanet, its commercial and industrial BESS, and the latest generation of its TOPCon module range.

JAGalaxy is designed for grid-connected renewable projects and incorporates multi-stage protection with millisecond-level response, real-time monitoring and a three-tier fire detection and suppression system. Its modular architecture is intended to simplify maintenance at scale.

JAPlanet, launched in December 2025 and already deployed across sites in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Lithuania, is a 261 kWh lithium iron phosphate system with an integrated 125 kW power conversion system. It delivers up to 88 percent AC-side round-trip efficiency, scales to 20 units (5.2 MWh), and uses liquid cooling to keep cell temperatures within 1.5°C. The system carries a five-year warranty extendable to ten years and a minimum state of health of 80 percent over 8,000 cycles.

Intersolar and ees Europe 2026: scaling storage to meet EU ambitions

On the module side, JA Solar will show the DeepBlue 5.0 series, its fifth-generation TOPCon platform, including the JAM48D50/LR range delivering up to 670 W at 24.8 percent efficiency. The DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series covers residential through utility-scale applications, with up to 22 percent efficiency, a 30-year power warranty and 0.3 percent annual degradation.

"The next phase of solar is not defined by modules alone, but by integrated energy ecosystems," says Alastair Mounsey, head of Europe at JA Solar. "JA Solar is accelerating that transition by combining leading solar module technology with advanced storage platforms." (TF)
