Genera 2024

43,000 experts find out about the latest trends at trade fair in Spain

Genera has established itself as the most important platform for energy and the environment in Europe. For three days, 43,292 experts took advantage of the offers presented by more than 500 exhibitors on an exhibition area of 24,000 square metres. According to a survey, visitors came from installation and maintenance companies as well as engineering, procurement and construction companies, among others.

Visitors from many countries

The positive response points to the growing international significance of the event. Experts from abroad came from Portugal (43 per cent), followed by Germany (8 per cent), France (7 per cent), Italy (6 per cent), China (5 per cent) and Turkey (3 per cent). 41 per cent of exhibitors came from abroad, most of them from China, Turkey and Germany. This is because Spain, with its very favourable conditions for wind and solar power, is and remains a strategically important country for many companies.

Platforms for the exchange of knowledge

The three days of the trade fair were also accompanied by an intensive exchange of information in an extensive programme at several forums that dealt with the new challenges of the energy transition. Among other things, these forums discussed innovations in the field of efficiency, new technical instruments and applications as well as specific lighthouse projects for the energy transition and decarbonisation - energy storage was also a focus. Important associations and organisations such as the Spanish Cluster for Solar Energy and Energy Transition and the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) were also represented.

Another highlight was the Innovation Gallery in the networking area of Hall 9, an initiative that showcases the technical progress of the energy transition. A committee selected and presented 33 innovative projects, as we have already reported. Next year, Genera will most likely take place in November - together with the electronics trade fair Matelec, said Alberto Leal, Director of Genera at a press meeting. (nhp/mfo)
