Climate action:

Sungrow calls for climate action at BNEF London Summit 2021

Sungrow itself continues to reduce its own climate impacts and support the strong, rapid and sustained reductions in carbon dioxide emissions.

A major new United Nations climate report issues a code red for humanity. It indicated the internationally agreed threshold of 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels of global warming was perilously close. The only way to prevent exceeding this threshold, is by urgently stepping up efforts, and pursuing the most ambitious path.

“Climate change - a critical focus of the coming COP26 Climate Conference in Glasgow - is among the greatest challenges facing mankind, and while renewable energy technology is one part of the solution, It is vital to the net-zero future we must build,” said Lewis Lee, General Manager of Sungrow Europe, at the BNEF London Summit 2021.

Also being a member of RE100, Sungrow pledges to source 100% renewable electricity across its entire global operations by 2028, illustrating its determination to slash its own climate impacts.

The Company also sets aggressive goals to reduce its partners’ greenhouse gas emissions, increase long-term renewable energy use and energy production. It embeds sustainability across all endeavours and applies its expertise and skills to supplying solutions to its customers that are competitive, resilient and effective.

Climate change can only be solved by working together

As of June 2021, Sungrow accumulative inverters shipments reached 182 GW -- a number equivalent to generating around 257,300 GWh of clean electricity per year and eliminating 205.8 million tons of carbon dioxide. Having also been ranked No.1 bankable for three consecutive years and No.1 supplier in financed projects by BloombergNEF, the Company shows strong performance in projects it powers.

“Climate change is also a crisis which we will only be able to address if we work together on a global scale. The problem goes way beyond straightforward energy generation, but to industry, transport, personal lifestyles and more. To mitigate this real and tangible threat of it, science tells us net-zero targets must be broad in their reach. This is why Sungrow is diversifying our portfolio,” commented Lee.

Paving the way toward a net-zero carbon future

Known for PV and energy storage in over 150 countries, Sungrow now goes beyond these and is also getting involved in other relevant segments including wind power, hydrogen, EV charging etc. The Company aims to leverage its comprehensive strengths in renewable energy to pave the way toward a net-zero carbon future.

With the collaboration of its associates, suppliers, customers, consumers and industry partners, Sungrow powers diverse applications, no matter where the condition is flat or hilly terrain, desert or water space, extreme hot or freezing cold. “It’s time to take stepped-up commitments and actions,” Lee added.
