Cycle path in Freiburg covered with solar modules

The solar roof was designed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) and financed by Badenova, a company based in Freiburg. 900 semi-transparent solar modules were supplied by Solarwatt from Dresden. The substructure was developed by Clickcon, a provider of mounting systems from Freiburg.

Fraunhofer ISE acts as operator. In addition, the solar electricity generated is used at the institute. The scientists are also responsible for monitoring. Glass-glass modules with building authority approval for public spaces were installed. The Clickplain Pro in-roof system, which Clickcon presented at last year's Intersolar, was used as the substructure. (HS/mfo)
