The solar park features 350,000 solar panels, around half of which are mounted on trackers that generate more energy by following the sun's path across the sky. The project is also agrivoltaic, combining energy generation with agriculture by supporting around 1,700 sheep that graze year-round within the facility. Lidsø is the largest solar park in operation on Lolland and the second largest in both Denmark and Scandinavia. Alight owns and manages the park following its acquisition from developer European Energy in March, a transaction enabled by €127 million in debt financing from SEB and SEK.
Agri-PV – from niche solution to mainstream adoption
"Thanks to long-term power purchase agreements with DSB, we are able to deliver new, additional sustainable capacity to the Danish grid while strengthening our position as a leading player in the Nordic market," says Warren Campbell, CEO of Alight. "It is crucial for us to contribute to increased production of renewable energy in Denmark. Even though trains are already a more climate-friendly means of transport than the average car, this project supports our aim of operating more train journeys powered by renewable energy with minimal impact on the climate and environment," says Aske Mastrup Wieth-Knudsen, Head of Sustainability at DSB.
