UK second only to Germany in utility-scale battery storage

The UK ranks second in Europe for large-scale battery storage. Grid storage provision by companies is supported through a statutory capacity payment mechanism, and national targets call for 24 GW of energy storage by 2030.

EU needs a tenfold boost in battery storage by 2030

SolarPower Europe expects grid storage in the UK to reach 3.7 GWh by 2024, accounting for 82% of the national battery storage market, and 4.7 GWh per year by 2028, representing 65%.
