Sunotec and Sungrow have signed a strategic agreement to install 2.4 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across several solar projects in Bulgaria and other European markets. The portfolio includes large-scale projects in Bulgaria, some supported by the national RESTORE program. All projects will integrate Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 utility-scale BESS. A hybrid installation will additionally use the company’s SG350HX-20 string inverter and MVS solution.
EU needs a tenfold boost in battery storage by 2030
This agreement represents the first Sungrow BESS deployment in Bulgaria. According to Kaloyan Velichkov, CEO of Sunotec, integrating storage is a key element in the company’s strategy to build flexible solar infrastructure: “The energy transition depends not only on production but on the ability to manage and store renewable power.”
The smarter E Europe – a blueprint for tomorrow's energy
The systems are expected to enhance grid stability, enable higher renewable penetration, and improve the operational reliability of Sunotec’s solar parks in Bulgaria and wider Europe. Anastasios Gkinis, Regional Director at Sungrow, stated: “This cooperation supports our objective to expand energy storage solutions across the region.” (hcn)
