Stainless-steel pins, mounted along the upper edges of the module rows, are designed to stop birds from settling, reducing yield losses from bird droppings and the need for extra cleaning. The system has been developed for flat-roof, floating and ground-mounted installations and is a further development of the Birdblocker for pitched-roof systems.

Four stainless-steel clips per metre fix the pins to the modules without drilling or gluing, so the system can also be retrofitted. It comes in two variants. Topguard Standard is fitted along the top edge of each tilted module row, for example on south-facing flat-roof installations and elevated ground-mounted systems, while Topguard Double spans the upper gap between opposing module rows on east-west flat-roof installations. For floating PV, more clips are used to withstand wind loads and platform movement.
Both variants are available in a stainless-steel finish and in black, in packs of 30 m. Rooftech, based in Schönaich in Baden-Württemberg, is the exclusive distributor of Birdblocker products in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). They are made by the Dutch manufacturer of the same name. (nhp)
