New redox flow home storage

Prolux Solutions is showing a new flow battery. The Storac home storage system is based on redox flow battery technology and is therefore non-flammable. It has a capacity of six kilowatt hours and has been intensively tested in practice, according to the manufacturer.

Another model with ten kilowatt hours is currently in preparation. The Storac can be installed by two craftsmen. With a height of two metres and a footprint of 60 by 60 centimetres, the housing is roughly the size of a refrigerator. During operation, the storage unit is monitored via an app. Remote maintenance is carried out via the internet. The storage unit consists of two tanks, pumps, the stack and control electronics.

The tanks contain a vanadium solution as electrolyte, which consists of 92 per cent water. For commissioning, first the housing with the technology is set up, then the two 150 litres of electrolyte are filled in. This way, craftsmen do not have to lift heavy loads. The AC-coupled storage unit has emergency power capability and can be cascaded. (mfo)
