FENECON taps Greece and Cyprus with new Grenecon alliance

German hardware and software energy storage provider FENECON has entered the Greek and Cypriot markets through a strategic partnership with Patras-based energy solutions specialist Grenecon. The alliance underscores growing demand for decentralised energy storage across Southern Europe, as policy changes and EU support encourage broader adoption.

Exclusive partnership formalised

The agreement, signed in May 2025, formalises a collaboration that began in 2023 and positions Grenecon as FENECON's exclusive country partner for Greece and Cyprus. The partnership aims to support the region's transition to low-carbon energy by advancing energy storage as essential grid infrastructure alongside renewables. "Greece and Cyprus are at a pivotal moment for energy storage, with policy reforms and new funding streams driving market interest," said Tomáš Bílek, Executive Manager, Sales International at FENECON.

For investors, the deal signals confidence in the regional storage market. Regulatory support, established partners and notable government-led storage tenders in Greece in recent years are helping to reduce risk and create new avenues for project development. The partnership is part of a broader internationalisation of German and northern European cleantech firms, as technology providers seek growth opportunities in southern and eastern EU markets through local alliances.

FENECON's storage systems include the proprietary FEMS energy management platform, which supports sector coupling and grid-compatible operation. Following the new partnership, local customers will have access to FENECON's European after-sales support. "With Grenecon, we have a partner who understands the region and shares our vision for a sustainable energy future," Bílek added. (tf)
