Electrofleet adds buffer storage to truck charging parks

Under the agreement, Fenecon will supply the 40 MWh as containerised XL storage systems for Electrofleet’s charging network. The company plans to install them at customer depots with limited grid connection capacity, to buffer demand and free up additional charging capacity for electric trucks. The batteries will support high-power charging and balance peak loads at the public sites the company is building with Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors.

Electrofleet chose the Fenecon XL after a field test at its Bielefeld site. As a licensed electricity supplier, the company operates a virtual power plant across Germany and says it covers the entire energy value chain, from solar and wind generation to storage, trading and charging optimisation.
