The second and final phase of the Vilvoorde project is set to connect to the grid by late 2025. This two-phase development is aimed at enhancing grid stability and, once completed, will provide up to 96,000 households in Belgium with reliable and clean energy. Both phases of the Engie project consist of Sungrow’s PowerTitan units.

The energy storage solutions (ESS) feature a compact design for rapid deployment and operational efficiency – both critical factors for large-scale infrastructure. “With the first series of batteries now in operation in Vilvoorde, ENGIE is delivering part of the additional flexibility the power grid needs to balance supply and demand,” said Vincent Verbeke, CEO of Engie Belgium.
Strong local presence
Sungrow has now established a strong local presence in the Benelux region, with a team for technical support, sales and after-sales services, as well as a main office and an R&D centre in Amsterdam. The company takes part in major industry events in the region and also organises its own events, including the EV Charging Summit in Amsterdam, set to take place this October. (hcn)
