Installed with Sungrow’s BESS 3-hour PowerTitan 2.0, the Bramley project will strengthen UK energy security and support grid resilience. It connects to the UK grid via a 132kV circuit using a loop-in and loop-out Extra High Voltage (EHV) setup that optimises line and generation protection. PowerTitan 2.0’s grid-forming technology tackles challenges like falling inertia and reduced damping from increasing renewables. Its all-in-one AC-DC block design, with pre-assembled battery modules and PCS, significantly lowers capital and operational costs while shortening installation time.

Grid services and wholesale energy trading
PowerTitan 2.0 also ensures the project complies with UK electricity market codes and actively supports grid balancing, ancillary services and wholesale energy trading, delivering competitive benefits to stakeholders. Prioritising safety, Sungrow performed the world’s largest BESS burn test on PowerTitan 2.0, securing safety for plants like Bramley. In September, Sungrow strengthened its partnership with BW ESS, signing a deal for a 1.4GWh PowerTitan 2.0 ESS to back the Hams Hall energy storage project in the UK. (hcn)
