UK – Severn Trent Green Power expands with four new parks, adding 180GWh

The planned installations in North Yorkshire, Warwickshire, Shropshire, and Leicestershire will add 180GWh to Severn Trent Green Power’s (STGP) 335GWh annual portfolio. Construction is set to begin in March 2026, with all parks operational by summer 2026.

For STGP, the move into solar represents a strategic diversification of its energy mix, which already includes over half a million tonnes of anaerobic digestion and food waste recycling annually. “These projects are a crucial step in our long-term commitment to renewable energy,” said Jonathon Wroe, Managing Director at Severn Trent Green Power. “Our focus remains on delivering these projects efficiently while meeting the needs of the communities hosting them.”

As part of this effort, STGP has emphasised its focus on community engagement, partnering with communications consultancy PLMR to manage the construction process with minimal disruption. This prioritisation of local involvement aligns with the growing demand for renewable energy in the UK and the increasing role of diverse energy sources in the grid.

The parks will be delivered by BELECTRIC, whose extensive experience in large-scale projects across Europe, including Germany, positions them well to support STGP’s role in the UK’s renewable objectives and align with broader European energy goals. (TF)
