MET Group buys solar park in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

With the purchase, MET Group takes over the Kentzlin photovoltaic power plant from the project pipeline of the developer Emeren Germany. The solar park is located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and will provide an installed capacity of 11.5 megawatts after its completion. The solar park is expected to generate around 13 gigawatt hours per year, which corresponds to an average annual consumption of 3,600 German households. The project reached construction maturity in mid-July and commercial operation is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2024, the company explains.

Two gigawatts of green power capacity planned by 2026

MET Group is already active in the German natural gas and electricity markets. The company has acquired underground gas storage facilities with a capacity of 3.4 terawatt hours in recent years and also has LNG landing capacity. The entry into the operation of a solar power plant now further expands the company's activities in Germany: "We will continue to expand our renewable energy portfolio throughout Europe and especially in Western Europe," promises Christian Hürlimann, CEO Renewables of MET Group.

The company's expansion strategy in the field of renewable energies aims to build up a portfolio with an installed capacity of two gigawatts by 2026. MET Group already operates green energy plants in Spain, Italy, Poland and Romania. (nhp/mfo)
