LONGi unveils solar modules with Zero Busbar technology

Solar Solutions International is one of the largest trade shows for solar energy in north-western Europe. It took place in late September at the Expo Haarlemmermeer in Vijfhuizen in the Netherlands. At the event, LONGi released its Hi-RO Onyx – a brand new series of solar modules designed for use in all rooftop applications. Based on a LONGi proprietary monocrystalline wafer, Onyx adopts LONGi's solar cell and module technology to deliver the highest efficiency and reliability. The module features half-cut cells with Zero Busbar (ZBB) technology, which comes with no visible busbars.

The Onyx modules are designed for rooftop applications in the residential segment. It provides high power generation in limited rooftop space and where aesthetics is important. Maximum power can reach 400 watts and module efficiency is up to 22.2 per cent.

Strong light capture and low reflection

The series includes two monofacial module products. The 390-watt full-black version (HTB) has aesthetics that compliments the typical rooftops of European homes while the standard version (HTH) with white backsheet maximizes power output to 400 watts.

Due to its Zero Busbar technology, Onyx modules show solid energy generation with strong light capture and low reflection, lower power degradation (first year 1.5 per cent, linear degradation 0.5 per cent), a lower temperature coefficient (0.29 per cent/°C) and better low irradiation performance. These features, working together with its ZBB technology and no shading on the frontside, allows Onyx to deliver great power performance. Onyx also comes with 25 years product warranty. At launch, the Onyx-Series modules will be available in the Netherlands and northern Europe. (mfo)
