LONGi plants a Technology Forest of eight innovations

LONGi introduced eight new photovoltaic technologies at its 2026 PV and Energy Storage Innovation Technology Launch, held in Shanghai on 14 July 2026. Spanning cells, modules, hardware and energy management, the technologies can be deployed individually or in combination. On a standard 2,382 mm by 1,134 mm module, all eight together push output above 690 watts at 25.54 percent efficiency. Presented under the name Technology Forest, the set was described by Chairman Zhong Baoshen as a route out of "vicious price competition" for the PV sector.

ACM gridline technology

Advanced Contact Matrix (ACM) uses a patented nano-alloy with an anti-oxidation surface treatment that halves gridline resistance compared with conventional TOPCon. By separating current collection from current transmission, it adds 0.2 to 0.3 percent to mass-production efficiency in Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10 modules, supporting ratings up to 672 watts.

LONGi breaks 35.5 percent barrier for perovskite tandem cells

A second innovation, Integrated Conductive Backsheet Technology, replaces the solder ribbons used for two decades, combining rear encapsulant, conductive ribbon and insulation into a single backsheet. Full-area foil contact widens the current path by more than 85 percent, cuts mechanical stress by 60 percent, reduces water vapour permeability by 90 percent and adds three to five watts per module through light reflection.

Shingled Cell Technology overlaps cells by 0.4 mm, adding around two percent to the generating surface. Hidden Busbar Technology moves the busbars to the rear, gaining a further 1.1 percent of light-absorbing area. Selective Temperature Alloy Connection (STAC) uses low-temperature fusion bonds compatible with BC cells to relieve thermal stress.

One OS energy management platform

Launched at SNEC 2026, LONGi One OS is an energy management platform for hybrid sites combining PV, storage, EV charging and loads. It recalculates charging and discharging every 15 minutes using market prices, generation forecasts and consumption data, and LONGi says it lifts O&M efficiency by 90 percent.

Smart Module Technology adds intelligence at panel level: module-level MPPT recovers five to 30 percent of generation under partial shading, while rapid shutdown drops DC voltage below 30 volts within 20 seconds. Certified by TÜV SÜD in 2025, the modules launch globally in Brazil on 25 August 2026, with volume delivery from October. (hcn)
