Trina and Allview partner on 65 MWh storage in Romania

Trina Storage, the energy storage subsidiary of Trina Solar, has signed its first battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Romania alongside engineering, procurement and construction contractor Allview. The 65 MWh Toplița site in central Romania forms a key element of both companies’ expansion strategy in Eastern Europe.

Trina Storage to supply DC

Trina Storage will supply the DC-side solution, including 16 Elementa 2 battery cabinets, as part of the overall system architecture. The project is being delivered under a strategic contract with Allview within the Renovatio initiative, a national programme to accelerate deployment of battery energy storage systems. It is funded under Romania’s National Reconstruction and Resilience Plan, aligned with EU energy transition goals. Allview is responsible for system integration on the full alternating current scope, including the power conversion system and medium-voltage infrastructure.

First step for regional expansion

The agreement follows several Trina Storage projects in Europe, including Germany and the Baltics. With a growing pipeline in the region, the company aims to deploy multi-gigawatt-hour storage capacities in the coming years. Toplița is Trina Storage’s first BESS project in Romania and signals its long-term commitment to the Eastern European storage market. Demand for flexible, grid-stabilising solutions is rising in the region, driven by EU regulations and the need for security of supply.

Project pipeline of several GWh

With multiple projects in development and a pipeline of several gigawatt hours, Trina Storage is positioning itself as a key technology provider in Europe’s evolving energy storage sector. For Allview, participation in the Toplița project with Trina Storage under the Renovatio initiative represents a step toward establishing itself as a strategic player in advanced energy infrastructure. The project also underlines the growing maturity of the Allview Energy Division in delivering complex storage solutions for Romania’s energy transition. (mg)
