Axpo to strengthen wind and solar business in the future

In addition to further investments in hydropower, the wind and solar energy businesses have been systematically built up over the last ten years under the leadership of Christoph Sutter, Head Renewables at Axpo. The strategic acquisitions of the wind developer Volkswind in 2015 and the solar project developer Urbasolar in 2019 have also enabled Axpo to contribute to the expansion of green electricity production across Europe.

Today, Axpo has more than 500 employees in the two areas out of a total of just over 5,000. In order to cope with this development in organisational terms as well, the two business areas of wind and solar are now becoming divisions in their own right.

Christoph Sutter has driven and defined this development and expansion of renewable energies at Axpo over the last ten years. He has now decided to leave the company in autumn 2022 in order to become involved again as an entrepreneur in the field of renewable energies and climate protection.
