The new awards are launched by European Solar (Netherlands) in partnership with SMM (Shanghai Metals Market). While the SMM Awards recognise suppliers for innovation and manufacturing excellence, the European Solar Awards spotlight the market players who bring solar and storage projects to life – distributors, EPCs, developers, investors and leading personalities.
Five award categories will be presented:
1. European Distributor of the Year
2. European EPC of the Year
3. European Developer of the Year
4. European Investor of the Year
5. European Solar Personality of the Year
Evaluation criteria include financial health, entrepreneurship, differentiation, market impact and social responsibility.

How it works
• A dedicated nomination page is now online where companies and individuals can submit nominations (self-nomination or third-party nomination).
• Each participant may nominate one company or person in a single category, supported by a short statement on why the nominee deserves recognition.
• Nominations close on 30 September 2025.
• In early October, a shortlist will be published and online voting will begin.
• The winners will be announced live during the Award Ceremony (17:40, Barcelona) and highlighted through social media, livestreaming and media coverage.
