A special exhibit at this year's The Smarter E Europe is setting out to make the case in concrete, sector-by-sector terms that a fully renewable energy system is technically and economically viable around the clock.
"Renewables 24/7 – Secure Energy for a Changing World," in Hall C5 at booth C5.450, uses Germany as its reference case: a major industrialised economy already generating around 60% of its electricity from renewable sources, and one where the question of full-system reliability is increasingly a live policy and investment question rather than a theoretical one.

The exhibit is structured around four interactive thematic zones – industrial, commercial, residential and mobility – each walking through how an intelligent, flexible renewable energy system functions across the full chain from generation to storage, grid integration and hydrogen. Realistic scenarios address both the opportunities and the familiar sticking points: variability, surplus production and periods of low renewable output.
A centrepiece of the exhibit is an accompanying study, produced in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, due to launch on 23 June at the start of The Smarter E Europe. The study addresses security of supply, economic viability and system stability for a fully renewable grid, with the exhibit bringing its findings to life through live demonstrations, best-practice examples and expert talks on the show floor.
EM-Power: flexibility pays off for businesses
A film produced for the exhibit, with editorial responsibility held by the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology IEE, will also premiere on-site. Rather than leading with policy arguments, it draws on real-world projects from across Germany, supported by 3D animation, to illustrate how renewable energy is already delivering reliable supply across residential, commercial, industrial and transport applications.
The spatial experience has been developed with NEXT CIRCULAR, an impact operating system for smart spaces, translating the exhibit's thematic content into a structured visitor journey. (TF)
