MaxSolar, which describes itself as a manufacturer-neutral developer choosing technology on a project-by-project basis, is shifting to Trinasolar's newest module generation across five utility-scale sites. Deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter, though the projects are at different stages of development and module allocations may still change as planning progresses.

What's different about the new modules
Vertex N G3 uses Trinasolar's third-generation n-type i-TOPCon Ultra cell technology, with a quarter-cut cell design that succeeds the half-cut layout used in earlier module generations. The narrower cell segments reduce current flow and electrical resistance within the module, which Trinasolar says cuts power losses and improves thermal performance, supporting module efficiencies of up to 24.8 percent. The modules are 85 percent bifacial and carry a temperature coefficient of -0.26 percent per degree Celsius, giving them up to 1.55 percent more output than standard modules at high operating temperatures. Trinasolar rates the modules' annual degradation at 0.35 percent, backed by a 30-year power warranty.

Modest but recurring deal
At 74 MW across five projects, the agreement is modest next to MaxSolar's overall pipeline of 6.1 GW across six German locations, though it adds to 1.55 GW of Trinasolar modules MaxSolar has bought over the past five years. MaxSolar's projects range from ground-mounted solar parks to tracker systems and hybrid solar-storage sites, concentrated in southern Germany, where utility-scale solar continues to expand. (TF)
