European Solar Sustainability Award – entries open until 10 October

SolarPower Europe recognises leading sustainability performers in solar power through its annual European Solar Sustainability Award. The award celebrates efforts to maximise positive impacts on products, projects, communities, the climate and the environment, while reducing the technology’s environmental footprint and driving greater sustainability across the sector.

SolarPower Europe: landmark Solar Sustainability report released

By highlighting and sharing Europe’s best solar sustainability practices, SolarPower Europe seeks to solidify solar as a pillar of the energy transition and the foremost sustainable energy source.

Previous winners of the European Solar Sustainability Award include Enel Green Power (2022), Iberdrola (2023), and Solar Materials (2024).

Competition process

Entries for the European Solar Sustainability Award 2025 will be evaluated by a distinguished jury in two rounds. After an initial review, 10 shortlisted companies will present their projects to the jury during an online event, after which the finalists will be selected. On 3 December 2025, the finalists will showcase their projects at the Sustainable Solar Europe Conference 2025 in Brussels, where conference participants will vote for the winner. The winner will be officially announced during the event.

Who can participate?

The European Solar Sustainability Award 2025 is open to companies and organisations that actively use solar power or contribute to the solar sector by reducing their own or the technology’s environmental footprint.

SolarPower Europe is looking for solar project applications that:

•             Contribute to improved sustainability performance in Europe through solar technology, reducing environmental impacts while delivering economic and social benefits.

•             Demonstrate innovation and go beyond business-as-usual.

•             Show excellence in project execution and overcoming challenges.

The competition is open exclusively to projects carried out in Europe.

Deadline for applications is 10 October 2025. (hcn)
