European markets:

Solarwatt expands in the UK

Solarwatt has established a UK company to serve growing demand for renewable energy and reinforce its presence in the market while making its range of smart PV technologies more accessible to UK installers and customers.

As part of its expansion drive, Solarwatt, the European market leader in glass-glass solar modules and a leading supplier of electricity storage systems, announces key personnel changes and the establishment of a UK office and warehouse. The setting up of Solarwatt Technologies Ltd by the German photovoltaic systems provider is a logical step following its recent success and in light of its strong ambitions in the UK market.

Daniel Adamsbaum joins Solarwatt as Sales Manager, North, after working for more than a decade in the solar industry in Europe and the UK, where he recently held a senior role at a renewable energy supplier in the northeast of England.

Partner with other premium installers across the UK

Neal Goddard, who joined Solarwatt in May 2018 as Sales Manager, UK and Ireland, is now Sales Director for the region, continuing to work with Pol Spronck who will be Managing Director of the UK company.

Pol Spronck said: “We have worked hard to get to this point and it’s great to confirm we are making big progress. Building on existing sales collaborations in the UK, Solarwatt is particularly keen to partner with other premium installers across the UK.”

Neal Goddard commented: “It’s been a huge summer for us with the announcement of the Battery flex storage system we’ve developed with BMW, underpinning the versatility of our products for EVs as well as energy for home and work.

“The big demand we’re seeing for our glass-glass PV panels, backed by our industry-leading 30-year product and performance guarantee, shows people want energy independence and to future-proof their investment with safe, efficient and reliable systems of the highest quality.

UK Europe`s third largest home storage market

“There is also a growing acceptance that to reach Net Zero carbon emissions, we’re going to have to change that way we live including our homes and transport.”

Manchester-based Daniel Adamsbaum said: “It’s great to join a true world leader in photovoltaics and smart energy storage solutions. Solarwatt’s continuous drive to design and manufacture innovative products to the highest quality is a great match for my aspirations.”

According to the industry association SolarPower Europe, the UK is currently considered the third largest photovoltaic home storage market in Europe with a storage capacity of 38 MWh. Last winter alone, total PV capacity also rose to more than 14 GW – enough solar power to supply around three million households. Nevertheless, the experience of Germany, with 53.0 GW in 2020, shows there is still a lot of room for installed capacity growth in the UK, across solar PV, storage and other associated technologies within Solarwatt’s offering.

Sales growth of 100 percent

Despite the effects of coronavirus, Solarwatt achieved sales growth of 100 percent in the UK last year. As a result, a new warehouse in England will soon be unveiled, further improving Solarwatt’s ability to provide a fast and efficient delivery service to its growing UK customer base.

Solarwatt’s UK office will be located in Surrey, close to the M25, M3, M4 and Heathrow Airport.

In July Solarwatt announced the supply of complete PV systems for 15 schools for Essex County Council to reduce emissions, helping the education authority to meet UK net-zero targets and bring significant cost savings so as to invest in other facilities and services.
