Adolf Goetzberger Award opens call for solar innovators

The Adolf Goetzberger Award was presented for the first time this year at the PV Symposium in Kloster Banz, in the German city of Bad Staffelstein. It recognises outstanding innovations in the use of solar energy. With this initiative, the Adolf Goetzberger Foundation aims to highlight pioneers in photovoltaics.

A second edition will follow next year, and the foundation is now inviting applications for photovoltaic developments that offer practical benefits and social relevance. The winner will receive a €25,000 prize in recognition of personal contributions to pioneering concepts, prototypes or processes. System-level integrated solutions are also explicitly encouraged.

Broader range of topics

In response to rapid technological progress, the foundation has expanded the range of eligible topics. While the first award was limited to photovoltaic and solar thermal technologies, the call is now also open to innovations in energy storage and intelligent grid integration. Applications with cross-sector approaches will be considered as well, including smart combinations of different technologies, digital control systems, the integration of heat pumps and efficiency improvements in coupled systems.

Innovative solutions recognised at The smarter E Europe

End of November deadline

Developers from across Europe can apply for the next Adolf Goetzberger Award – applications are also open to candidates from outside Europe. Submissions should be sent to the Adolf Goetzberger Foundation. The website provides details on the specific criteria required for entry.
