Leaders of our industry:

Heiko Schwarzburger of photovoltaik and pv Europe

Last time you got to meet Thomas Häring of GoodWe Europe GmbH. Now it is the turn of our very own Heiko Schwarzburger, Editor-in-Chief of photovoltaik and pv Europe to answer our six questions:

1. How are you personally – and as a company – coping with the corona crisis?

We are working hard on the solar transformation of the energy supply. We do not accept obstacles, including viruses. But we are careful because being healthy means being strong in order to do our job.

2. What are you enthusiastic about, apart from your company?

I am very enthusiastic about the dynamics and the growth of solar power in Germany, in Europe and worldwide. When I came into this business 15 years, ago no one in our industry had ever dared to hope that we would get so far so soon. This is an amazing success.

3. What social media account or podcast makes your life better?

I very much like Masterclass.com, to help me to think outside the solar box. But this is a website, rather than a social media channel.

4. Whom would you like to meet/have met?

I would like to have talked to Nelson Mandela who was a great man – for the world and for his people in South Africa. And I would like to meet Mr. Gorbatchev who tore down the Iron Curtain 30 years ago. He opened the world so we can solve our problems together.

5. If you could change one thing in the world – other than the corona crisis, of course – what would it be?

I would pass a law that every politician who wants to make war has to march into war at the front of the army – and be the first to face the enemy in combat – regardless of age or state of health. Go out there and face the music.

6. What aspect of your company’s work are you most proud of?

That we kept pace with the solar industry, through the ups and downs, in shadow and in sunlight. It is our privilege to encourage many people – persevering, even if it is sometimes difficult. (mfo)
