Croatia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transformation is supporting the deployment of solar systems and storage in the country’s national and nature parks as part of a wider push to decarbonise their operations. Alongside solar installations, park operators can also draw on the funding to build renewable-based heating and cooling systems or to expand electric mobility infrastructure.

Other eligible measures under the scheme include upgrades to the electricity grid, planning and construction supervision, occupational safety coordination during construction, the preparation of planning and technical documentation, and the management of green transformation projects. The ministry has just published the call for applications, with a total of €18 million available.
Up to €7.5 million per project
The call is open to the public bodies responsible for the national parks of Brijuni, Kornati, Krka, Mljet, Paklenica, Plitvička jezera, Risnjak and Sjeverni Velebit. Funding is also available for the green transformation of operations in the nature parks of Biokovo, Dinara, Kopački rit, Lonjsko polje, Medvednica, Papuk, Telašćica, Velebit, Vransko jezero, Žumberak-Samoborsko gorje, Lastovsko otočje, Zagorske gore and Učka. The ministry is capping individual project support at €7.5 million, with a €10,000 minimum project cost. Successful applicants can have their full eligible costs reimbursed.
