Lithuania takes the lead on cybersecurity in solar

Under Article 733 of Lithuania’s cybersecurity law, manufacturers from countries classified as high-risk are barred from accessing the grid-connected systems they supply if those systems exceed 100 kW in capacity.

This includes Chinese inverter manufacturers and their access to rooftop solar systems above the 100 kW threshold. New installations must comply with the legislation from May 2025, and existing systems must be retrofitted by May 2026.

The law does not restrict the sale or installation of these components in Lithuania. It applies solely to manufacturers’ remote access for updates, maintenance or configuration changes without involving a third party. (hcn)
