Ireland keeps residential rooftop solar grant at €1,800 for 2026

Rooftop solar now contributes nearly 1 GW to Ireland’s total installed solar capacity, which recently surpassed 2 GW. More than 155,000 homes and properties across the country are now equipped with solar panels.

According to RTÉ News, Climate and Energy Minister Darragh O’Brien said there were around 28,000 grant applications for rooftop solar in 2024, with demand expected to rise to 33,000 in 2025 as farms become eligible.

Segen extends Irish footprint with warehouse opening

The grant, delivered through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) under the state’s Microgeneration Support Scheme, had originally been slated for gradual reduction. Industry association Solar Ireland welcomed the government’s decision to maintain the full amount for another year. (hcn)
