Corporate renewable energy sourcing:

RE-Source: Untapped potential of on-site renewable electricity and storage

Europe has the opportunity to move towards more sustainable economic models that achieve climate neutrality and support the competitiveness of European businesses. With the right enabling framework, on-site renewable electricity generation and storage can play a significant role in the energy transition, helping companies to increase their renewable electricity procurement in Europe, and to meet their ambitious emissions reduction targets.

RE-Source: New report describes innovative on-site business models

The new report describes innovative on-site business models that companies can benefit from, and provides recommendations to EU and national policymakers to unlock the potential of on-site renewables and storage.

This report is the newest addition to the RE-Source Platform’s Renewable Energy Buyers Toolkit which helps businesses navigate the market with increased confidence. It builds on previous reports including Introduction to Corporate Sourcing of Renewable Electricity in Europe and Risk Mitigation for Corporate Renewable PPAs

This report lays out a clear path to help corporates achieve their climate goals by capitalising on on-site renewable electricity and storage. Goal of an 100% renewable energy system

Mercè Labordena, Senior Policy Advisor at SolarPower Europe, says: "As part of RE-Source, I am proud to contribute to the development of this report, which is an important addition to the discussion on corporate renewable energy sourcing in Europe. To achieve an energy system based on 100% renewables by 2050, the opportunity for on-site renewable electricity and storage for corporates must be fully understood and utilised. The business models and policy framework put forward here will enable corporates to take the next step towards embracing renewables as an invaluable and daily part of their operations.”
