Solar facade with transparent modules

The transparent glass modules now produce solar power: while the glass modules allow light into the building from the outside, they offer a feeling of enclosure despite their transparency - and with a full view. The electricity is produced by organic solar cells (OPV), which ASCA applies to foils using a special printing process.

For the project in Gronau, ASCA produced green foils to match the surrounding clinker facade of the adjacent buildings. The glass facade of the administration building covers an area of 222 square metres and provides almost ten kilowatts of power. Glass modules with integrated ASCA solar film measuring 3.66 by 2.25 metres were installed on the south facade of the new building, alternating with conventional glass panes. (mfo)
