BIPV:

Modular facade with integrated systems technology

Researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP and for Energy Economics and Energy Systems Technology IEE are developing a facade module that integrates the technical building equipment and supplies it with renewable energy to heat, cool and ventilate the rooms behind it. This is made possible by a PV system integrated into the module facade for energy generation, a micro heat pump for heating and cooling, and a decentralised ventilation unit with heat recovery. The system can be used to renovate existing facades, but new buildings can also be equipped in a sustainable and energy-efficient way. (mfo)
