Trina Solar supplies 8.8 MW PV plant in Turkey – FIT renumerated

33,800 Trina Solar multicrystalline 260 W 60-cell Honey modules (TSM-PC05A) have been installed to power the solar PV plant, which is one of the ten largest solar projects in Turkey. The plant is situated in Yahyalı, in Kayseri province in Central Anatolia on a 160,000 m2 (40 acres) site and was developed by renewable energy specialist Citus Power, which also assumes the EPC role for the project.

FIT renumeration for ten years

Financed by the Türkiye Finans Participation Bank, the project’s planning phase started in late 2014, and Citus obtained the approval from TEDAŞ (Turkey Electricity Distribution Company) in 2015.  Trina Solar provided the solar modules for the various installation phases from Q4 2015 until Q2 2016.The installation of the project was completed in summer 2016 and connected to the grid in August. The generated power will be sold to the Turkish state for the first ten years under the applicable FIT mechanism.

Crucial local partner

Citus Power started developing wind projects in 2013 and subsequently got involved in solar project development. The company is not only developer of projects but also investor its own solar and wind projects. “Their local experience in commercial, technical and legal matters has been instrumental in helping us to supply our solar modules to the Turkish market more effectively”, Doruk Özülü, Country Manager Turkey at Trina Solar said.
