Switzerland: Solar set to cover 14% of power demand

-

The country is making steady progress on solar expansion – but there's still ground to cover. While current demand for PV systems remains modest, speakers at this year’s Swissolar conference outlined how that could soon change.

Decentralised hot water

Two AC heating rods for more self-sufficiency

-

The so-called autarky boiler is now available in three sizes from Timo Leukefeld. Thanks to the ingenious technical concept, it also saves landlords time and money, as the decentralised boiler eliminates the obligation to monitor for legionella.

„This is contrary to the consumers‘s interest“

-

Portugal is considered a booming PV market. However, there are a number of hurdles for private PV system operators to overcome, especially when dealing with the country's largest electricity supplier, Energias de Portugal, SA (EDP). This is described by pv Europe reader Chris Norman from the Western Algarve (Budens, Vila do Bispo).

The Swedish PV market saw strong growth in 2021, with solar parks above 1 MW in the lead.

The combination of PV and energy storage technology can be used to optimize the self-consumption of solar energy, for charging electric vehicles, ensuring the uninterruptible power supply and various grid services.
Intersolar Europe Restart 2021:

Focus on new PV and storage technologies in Munich

-

Notably, photovoltaic systems and large-scale solar power plants combined with electrical energy storage are becoming more and more important for grid control and managing grid congestion, forming the backbone of our energy infrastructure. At Intersolar Europe Restart from October 6–8, 2021 in Munich, they will take center stage.

Once commissioned, the project will cut the mine’s diesel consumption by approximately 20 to 22 million liters per year and thus offset between 53,000 and 60,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
