Start of construction for the new storage gigafactory in Wittenberg

The company is investing around 30 million euros in the first construction phase alone. The money will go towards the construction of the production facility and a fully automated high-bay warehouse. The factory, which will cover an area of almost 6,000 square metres, is scheduled to open in 2025. More than 400 new jobs are to be created in total.

A tenfold increase in capacity

The new production building has two floors and will enable the automated and efficient production of storage systems. Overall, production is characterised by a high degree of digitalisation. Among other things, fully automated robots will be integrated into parts of the production process. With the new production facility, the manufacturer will be able to produce up to 80,000 storage systems per year. This corresponds to a tenfold increase in current capacity.

This will enable Tesvolt to keep pace with market growth for commercial and industrial energy storage solutions. Market experts predict average annual growth of over 30 per cent in the European battery storage market over the next six years alone.

Green electricity and KfW55 standard

Small wind turbines on the building and a photovoltaic system will ensure CO2-neutral production of the storage units in future. The company obtains its heating energy from air heat pumps and heat recovery in the new production facility. Profits are buffered in battery storage systems. The new factory complies with the KfW55 standard and is being built by Goldbeck as general contractor.
