With the launch of Altenso Australia Pty Ltd and Altenso Africa (Pty) Ltd, the international system integrator is expanding its regional activities in two strategically important markets for sustainable energy solutions. Drawing on a track record of more than 1.5 GW of installed battery capacity and over 1 GW of delivered power technology for hydrogen projects, Altenso is well positioned to help realise ambitious clean energy targets.
The establishment of Altenso Australia and Altenso Africa underlines Altenso’s commitment to leveraging its project expertise and SMA’s advanced inverter technology in large-scale energy projects worldwide.

Current projects in Australia and Africa
Altenso recently announced a strategic partnership with the Australian project developer Avenis Energy. Together, the companies will deliver two standalone BESS projects in New South Wales. The Moree and Deniliquin BESS projects, each with a capacity of 120 MW / 480 MWh, are on track to reach ready-to-build status in the coming months.
SMA Altenso celebrates ten years of renewable energy projects
In Africa, Altenso is focusing on the development and implementation of battery storage projects, system integration and pilot initiatives to enhance energy reliability in regions with weak grid infrastructure. Altenso is a subsidiary of SMA. (hcn)
