The hybrid facility will integrate 84 MW of solar PV generation with a 90 MW battery energy storage system (BESS), representing an estimated total investment of around US$150 million. Situated in the Casablanca area of Central Chile, Pradera Larga embodies Limes’ strategy of developing renewable assets closer to high electricity demand centres.

Although large-scale solar PV projects in Central Chile face more complex permitting processes than those in the northern desert regions, Limes is prioritising the long-term benefits of these sites, including robust and growing demand and limited local generation capacity. By reducing reliance on long-distance transmission, this approach also helps to lower Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contract risk—a familiar bottleneck for PV projects.

Over the coming year, Limes will move the project towards Ready-to-Build (RTB) status, advancing construction financing, PPA negotiations and procurement activities. The company also expects to secure environmental approval (RCA) for its 200 MW BESS Huañil project and to make further progress across its utility-scale development pipeline. Limes’ Chilean pipeline continues to grow and now comprises approximately 180 MW of solar PV and 620 MW of BESS, including Pradera Larga. (hcn)
